Introducing Gamma Knife Treatment at Washington Hospital
Based on a technology that has been used safely and effectively for 40 years, the Gamma Knife has successfully treated hundreds of thousands of people around the world.
The latest generation Gamma Knife, the PERFEXION™, is widely recognized as today's gold standard for non-invasive brain surgery.
- Highly effective in treating conditions of the brain and head areas - a proven alternative or supplement, to traditional surgery and radiotherapy.
- Fast, precise and minimally invasive treatment for a quicker, easier recovery.
- Performed by a renowned team of physicians and other medical experts
Washington Hospital is proud to be the first hospital in the United States to install this leading edge technology as the cornerstone of its new Taylor McAdam Bell Neuroscience Institute.
In Washington Hospital's Gamma Knife Program, some of the world's most respected medical experts use leading edge technology to treat a wide range of conditions related to the brain and neurological system. Our goal is to achieve the most effective result for patients while making treatment and recovery as fast, easy and comfortable as possible.
Gamma Knife treatment is a type of radiosurgery in which physicians use directed beams of radiation to treat brain-related disorders without having to open the skull. This safe, non-invasive approach minimizes the possibility of damage to arteries, nerves and other important structures.
Quality Care
At Washington Hospital, quality is among our top priorities. We consistently look for ways to raise the bar on quality care and safety for our patients.
The Gamma Knife Program at Washington Hospital is committed to the highest standard of quality and safety. Our medical team is strongly influenced by the Patient First Ethic, Washington Hospital's guiding principle that states all decisions and actions must be based on what is best for the patient. We continuously work to optimize the care we provide, as we improve and save more lives every day.
Our mission is to achieve excellent clinical outcomes while giving patients the best possible experience. We believe the patient is an essential member of the treatment team. We also make sure that everyone in Washington Hospital's Gamma Knife Program who is involved in a patient's comprehensive treatment—from pre-operative education through postoperative therapy—has an advanced level of training.
At Washington Hospital's Gamma Knife Program, we are here to meet the unique and personal needs of each patient who comes to us with a brain tumor or other serious neurological condition.
